Karin completed her doctorate in Biological Sciences at the University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil). She has worked as a postdoctoral researcher for 6 years in the USP, Natural History Museum of London (UK), and Federal University of Paraná (Brazil). She has published several articles in journals of high impact factor, written scientific textbooks, co-supervised postgraduate students, and offered academic and school courses. Karin also translates Life Sciences articles (Portuguese <-> English). During her researcher career, she has collaborated with several scientific expeditions in Brazil and Wales, as well as attended scientific events in Brazil, Peru, Scotland, England, and Germany. For 4 years, she also coordinated the Lab. of Molecular Genetics in the Marine Biology Center at USP, where she received visiting researchers from Germany, USA, and Slovenia. Thus, Karin deeply understands the challenges faced by Brazilian researchers when writing their manuscripts in English, attending international academic events, and properly conducting their research.
