Itch, the official journal of the International Forum for the Study of Itch (IFSI), publishes original scientific papers that contribute to our understanding of the basic mechanisms and clinical aspects of itch (pruritus). The journal's scope will range from the molecular, genomic, proteomic and systems levels, to clinical diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes research. Articles on itch-related subjects from the disciplines of dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, neuroscience, allergy and immunology, psychology, pharmacology, palliative medicine and epidemiology will be considered for publication. Research articles may appear as full reports or brief communications. Itch also publishes systematic reviews, commentaries, editorials, case reports and letters to the Editor.

About Open Access Publication

Itch is an open access, peer-reviewed journal. To provide open access, the journal charges an article processing charge (APC) for each article published. These fees cover the expenses incurred by publication, including the peer review process, journal production and publication, and hosting and archiving fees. Fees vary by article type.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Article processing fees are charged after peer review and acceptance but prior to publication. All decisions to accept manuscripts are based solely on editorial criteria. Publication fees must be received by the publisher before an article is published. All fees and financial transactions related to article publication are conducted by the publisher, Wolters Kluwer.

The APCs for Itch are $1000 USD for Tier 1 manuscripts (Articles, Reviews) and $400 USD for Tier 2 manuscripts (Letters and Brief Communications). Authors can pay by credit card or request an invoice be sent to them, their funder, or their institution.

Open Access Copyright and License Information

Authors retain copyright for their article. Open access articles will be freely available to read, download and share from the time of publication. Itch provides authors the choice of applying either of the Creative Commons 4.0 licenses defined below, to be determined after acceptance.

Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs: CC BY-NC-ND.

This license is the most restrictive of the six main licenses, only allowing others to download your works and share it with others as long as they credit you, but they can’t change the work in any way or use it commercially.

Attribution: CC-BY.

This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered.
